Vodou Temple

Vodou Temple

I came across this photo of a Vodou temple taken before the earthquake from near where I once lived in rural Haiti. This area had considerable damage, so the temple may have been destroyed. Notice the red pillar in the front known as the “poto mitan” or central pillar, around which the religious ceremony takes place.

Finished this book yesterday. What a great read. Brings a new depth to the work of the Project Medishare team, their hisrtoy and work in the Central Plateau. Deep personal insights and detailed narrative recounts of the stories behind the earthquake, the personal journey of Dr. Fournier and the team in Thomonde and makes for a moving read. Required reading for those both new and seasoned to Haiti’s struggle.
